Freelance contract template

The terms every freelance project needs, in plain words. Copy it and fill it in, or send it in Brisk and let your client sign online.

Freelance Service Agreement

This Service Agreement is entered into on [date] between [Your name or business] (“Service Provider”) and [Client name or company] (“Client”).

1. Scope of work

The Service Provider will deliver: [describe the project in one or two sentences].

Deliverables: [list each deliverable, e.g. logo suite, five-page website, brand guidelines].

Anything not listed above is out of scope and will be quoted separately before work begins.

2. Compensation

The Client will pay [amount and currency] as [a flat project fee / an hourly rate / milestone payments].

[If milestones: list each milestone and its amount.]

3. Deposit

A deposit of [percentage or amount] is due before work begins. Work starts once the deposit is received. The deposit is [non-refundable / credited against the final invoice].

4. Payment terms

Invoices are due within [number] days of the invoice date. Payment can be made by [bank transfer / card / other].

Late payments may pause work until the balance is paid. (Optional) A late fee of [amount or percentage] applies to invoices more than [number] days overdue.

5. Revisions

The fee includes [number] rounds of revisions per deliverable. Additional revisions are billed at [rate].

6. Timeline

Work begins on [start date] and is expected to finish by [end date, or when the deliverables are accepted]. Delays caused by late feedback or materials from the Client move the timeline accordingly.

7. Cancellation

Either party may end this agreement with [number] days’ written notice. The Client pays for all work completed up to the end date. (Optional) A cancellation fee of [amount or percentage] of the remaining fee applies.

8. Ownership

Ownership of the final deliverables transfers to the Client upon full payment. The Service Provider may show the work in their portfolio unless the Client asks otherwise in writing.

9. Confidentiality

Both parties will keep confidential any non-public information shared during the project.
